Reddit Auto Comment Writer is designed to help users draft Reddit comments using their own OpenAI API key, visible Reddit post context, and optional business information saved by the user. The extension creates comment drafts for review and editing. It does not automatically post comments.
Reddit Auto Comment Writer is an independent browser extension and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or produced by Reddit, Inc. or OpenAI.
1. Information the Extension May Process
Reddit Auto Comment Writer may process limited information only when needed to provide its core comment drafting functionality.
This may include:
• The active Reddit page URL, only to confirm that the user is on a supported Reddit page
• Visible Reddit post content from the active supported page
• Visible comment or discussion context when needed to draft a relevant reply
• The active comment box state when the user chooses to generate a draft
• The user’s OpenAI API key
• The selected OpenAI model preference
• Business names added by the user
• Business descriptions or details added by the user
• Optional business links added by the user
• User preferences and extension settings
• AI-generated comment draft text returned by OpenAI
The extension processes this information only when the user chooses to use the comment drafting feature.
2. Information the Extension Does Not Intentionally Collect
The extension does not intentionally collect:
• Reddit passwords
• OpenAI account passwords
• Payment card information
• Private Reddit messages
• Private account credentials
• Full browsing history
• Personal files from the user’s device
• Data from unrelated websites
• Hidden or restricted Reddit content
• Sensitive personal information such as health data, biometric data, government ID numbers, or financial account information
The extension is not designed to access private Reddit data, private messages, hidden content, or unrelated browsing activity.
3. How Information Is Collected or Processed
Information is processed when the user interacts with the extension, such as when the user:
• Saves an OpenAI API key
• Selects an OpenAI model
• Adds, edits, or removes business details
• Adds, edits, or removes optional business links
• Opens a supported Reddit post
• Clicks inside a Reddit comment box

The extension does not automatically generate comments without user action.
The extension does not automatically post comments to Reddit.
4. How Information Is Used
Reddit Auto Comment Writer uses processed information only to provide its single purpose and core functionality.
This includes:
• Saving the user’s OpenAI API key locally in the browser
• Saving selected model preferences locally
• Saving optional business details and links locally
• Reading visible Reddit post context from the active supported page
• Sending the required prompt context to OpenAI when the user requests a draft
• Generating a Reddit comment draft
• Inserting or displaying the draft for user review
• Allowing the user to edit and manually decide whether to post the comment
The extension does not use user data for advertising, profiling, resale, or unrelated purposes.
5. OpenAI API Key and OpenAI Processing
Reddit Auto Comment Writer requires the user’s own OpenAI API key to generate comment drafts.
The OpenAI API key is stored locally in the user’s browser using Chrome extension storage or local browser storage.
When the user clicks Write My Comment, the extension may send the following information to OpenAI:
• The user’s OpenAI API key, for authentication with OpenAI
• Visible Reddit post or comment context needed for drafting
• Optional business details or links saved by the user, when relevant to the requested draft
• The selected model preference
• Instructions required to generate the comment draft
OpenAI processes this information according to OpenAI’s own terms and privacy policy.
Reddit Auto Comment Writer does not control how OpenAI handles information submitted to OpenAI through the user’s API key.
6. Business Details and Links
Users may choose to save business information inside the extension.
This may include:
• Business name
• Business description
• Product or service details
• Target audience notes
• Tone guidance
• Optional website or business links
This information is used only to help generate more relevant comment drafts when the user requests it.
Business links should be included in generated comments only when they naturally fit the discussion. Users are responsible for reviewing all generated drafts before posting.
7. Data Storage
The extension may store limited data locally in the user’s browser.
Locally stored data may include:
• OpenAI API key
• Selected model preference
• Business details
• Optional business links
• Extension settings
• User interface preferences
This data remains in the browser unless the user deletes it, clears browser storage, resets extension data, or uninstalls the extension.
The extension does not maintain an external developer database of user API keys, business details, Reddit context, or generated comments.
8. Data Sharing
Reddit Auto Comment Writer does not sell, rent, trade, or share user data with advertisers, data brokers, or third-party marketing platforms.
Data may be shared only in the following limited situations:
• With the user, by displaying saved settings or generated drafts inside the extension interface
• With OpenAI, when the user requests a comment draft using their OpenAI API key
• With the user’s browser, when storing local settings or inserting draft text into the active Reddit comment box
• When required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users, the developer, or the public
The extension does not share generated comments or saved business details with other users.
9. Third-Party Services
The extension works with Reddit pages and uses OpenAI API services when the user provides an API key and requests a comment draft.
Reddit and OpenAI have their own terms and privacy policies. Users should review those policies separately.
Content submitted to OpenAI through the user’s API key may be handled by OpenAI according to OpenAI’s policies.
Content posted on Reddit is handled by Reddit according to Reddit’s policies.
10. Chrome Permissions
Reddit Auto Comment Writer may request Chrome permissions required for its core functionality.

Host permissions
Used to read visible Reddit post and comment context from supported Reddit pages, detect the active comment box, insert the user-requested AI-generated draft, and connect to OpenAI only when the user clicks Write My Comment.
These permissions are used only for the extension’s comment drafting workflow.
11. Remote Code
Reddit Auto Comment Writer does not use remote code.
All extension code, including JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and extension logic, is packaged inside the submitted Chrome extension.
The extension does not load or execute remote JavaScript, remote WebAssembly, or executable code from external servers.
Calling the OpenAI API to generate a comment draft is not remote code execution.
12. User Control
Users control how the extension is used.
Users may:
• Add or remove their OpenAI API key
• Select an available model
• Add, edit, or delete business details
• Add, edit, or delete optional business links
• Choose when to generate a comment draft
• Review and edit generated drafts before posting
• Decide whether to post, change, copy, or discard a draft
• Clear local extension data through browser settings
• Uninstall the extension at any time
The extension does not automatically post comments.
13. Data Retention and Deletion
Locally stored settings, API keys, model preferences, business details, and links may remain stored in the browser until the user deletes them, clears browser data, resets extension storage, or uninstalls the extension.
Temporary Reddit page context and generated draft content are used only for the active user-requested comment drafting workflow.
The extension does not maintain a separate external database of Reddit context, OpenAI API keys, business details, or generated comments.
14. Data Security
The extension uses browser-provided storage and Chrome extension APIs to support its features.
Users should keep their OpenAI API key private and remove it from the extension if they no longer want to use the tool.
No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, but the extension is designed to minimize data handling by keeping settings and API key data locally in the browser.
15. Responsible Use
Reddit Auto Comment Writer is intended to help users draft relevant and respectful Reddit comments.
Users are responsible for reviewing, editing, and deciding whether to post any generated comment.
Users must not use the extension for:
• Spam
• Harassment
• Misleading promotion
• Vote manipulation
• Mass posting
• Impersonation
• Unlawful marketing
• Violations of Reddit rules or subreddit rules
• Violations of OpenAI policies
• Any activity that violates applicable laws
Generated comments should be useful, relevant, respectful, and appropriate for the discussion.
